See the whole neighborhood

Postby lindawing » February 15th, 2014, 8:55 pm

I was just reading that someone uses a camera hack/mod so the whole neighborhood can be used or at least seen. You don't need a hack for this. Try this, it works really well. Go to Documents - Ea Games - The Sims 2 - Cameras -Neighborhood Cameras. Look for the line that says Constrain, change all the numbers (I think it's 45) to 90. It should look like this---> constrain .90 .90 .90 .90

You can see the whole 'hood now.
(This part was written by a member who hasn't been with Neighborly Sims for a long, long time, now.)

That's what the different camera files do, anyway--they're just rewritten parameters in the Neighborhood Camera config file. I didn't know that about the 90.90.90.90 thing, though! I just have a rewritten camera file that someone else made, ages ago, that accomplishes the same thing, with a few more changes that make the tilt and skew settings slightly different as well.

Here's the text in my NeighborhoodCamera.txt file:

Code: Select all
# Camera configuration file for the Neighborhood screen.
# See cameras.txt for a description of syntax.

camera "Neighborhood" Neighborhood

zoom 1 (650 450 230)
fov (45 45 45)
clip (.6 .5 .4) (2000 2000 2000)
pitch (30 22 14) (40 45 50)

orientation 1 (0 45 90 135 180 225 270 315)

smoothing 5 8
wheel 5

constrain .9 .9 .9 .9

setparam defaultminchange 0.5

setparam keyboardrotationspeed 100
setparam keyboardrotationlerpsteps 2
setparam keyboardrotationlerpminchange 0.5

setparam keyboardtranslationspeed 50
setparam keyboardtranslationlerpsteps 5
setparam keyboardtranslationlerpminchange 0.5

setparam keyboardzoomspeed 1
setparam keyboardzoomlerpsteps 1
setparam keyboardzoomlerpminchange 1
setparam keyboardzoomscale 3

As you can see, the constrain IS set as you mentioned, Julie (which I wasn't aware of), but some of the other figures don't match the original, either:

Code: Select all
# Camera configuration file for the Neighborhood screen.
# See cameras.txt for a description of syntax.

camera "Neighborhood" Neighborhood

zoom        1 (650 450 230)
fov            (33  33  33)
clip           (2  2  2) (2000 2000 2000)
pitch          (40  32  25)   (40   32   25)

orientation 0 (0 45 90 135 180 225 270 315)

smoothing   5 8
wheel       5

constrain   .35 .35 .35 .35

setparam defaultminchange                 0.5

setparam keyboardrotationspeed            15
setparam keyboardrotationlerpsteps        2
setparam keyboardrotationlerpminchange    0.5

setparam keyboardtranslationspeed         50
setparam keyboardtranslationlerpsteps     5
setparam keyboardtranslationlerpminchange 0.5

setparam keyboardzoomspeed                1
setparam keyboardzoomlerpsteps            1
setparam keyboardzoomlerpminchange        1
setparam keyboardzoomscale                3

As long as you make a backup for any of the camera files, you can play around with them and see what the differences are when you change the numbers.
