Desert Hills Home

We now have Terrain Tools! They can do a LOT with a lot. :yeah: I still have a lot of stuff to learn, and a lot of experimenting to do, but I'm already having a blast, and I'm up way later than I should be because of it.

Here are some pictures of the beginning of Desert Hills Home, where there is terrain manipulation only around the "stream," (which is a swimming pool, since we don't have on-lot river/stream capabilities. I want to experiment with sinking a fishing pond in one end of this pool, but I had other things to do tonight, after last night's beginning.

Then I added the hill that holds the house--which took a LOT of work and thought, and trying to figure out work-arounds for the stuff that we can't do, that I wish we COULD do, etc. The house is bare bones with its "basement" (not a true basement, because I wanted to build a walk-out basement for this first effort), its "first story" (which is actually the second story), and nothing more than the exterior decks. It has been play-tested for accessibility for everything to this point, so all is good, and I can hardly wait to finish the lot!

Finally, here are three photos of some interesting parts of the hillside build. I took more photos, but I guess the bin was full and I didn't realize it, so they didn't make it into the folder. That's OK...I'll get more when the house is more done.

Desert Hills Home--PROGRESS

Postby lindawing » January 16th, 2019, 11:23 am

At long last I've finally had some time to get in and do some more building in TS4, on the Desert Hills Home that is built into the hillside.

Last week I purchased the Get Famous EP, that had already been marked down to $19.99 at Amazon, since I had the gift card from my brother. Mostly I bought Prime Pantry stuff, but I splurged on the EP, just for me. ;-)

So I had a few more things I could add in to enhance the build, with some nice colors to help blend things a bit better.

Here are some progress pictures in early winter (no snow yet...not sure if there even WILL be, in the desert...we'll see soon, probably).

The bottom floor (the "walkout basement") is pretty much done, now, and I've at least added doors, windows, and basic lighting to the top two floors.

I had a fun idea for the basement. I added one of the graffiti garage doors to each side of that bottom wall, at the end of the driveway, that completely cover the double-wide ARCHWAY that is also in the wall. My Sim walks right through the "garage door" to get into the bottom floor. Woohoo!!! I'll take some pictures of how that works, the next time I'm in the lot.

Wow...I am going to have to go and get in game! I think I may have time tomorrow! We have snow predicted over next few days, but it'll be worth staying in if I can play around with this! Needless to say, Linda, this is spectacular and inspiring!!!! :joy:

Thanks, Lisa! I think you'll enjoy messing about with the terrain. It's fun, even though it's a bit more persnickety than TS3...more like TS2 in some ways, yet much more flexible in some ways, than either one. :uhhuh:

We have a huge storm settling in here again, too...sigh.

I can't wait, but yet again time goes I do not know where, ended up shopping for food, to beat the snow later! I am going to warm up in the bath and if there is any time I will open it up and have a look! :joy:

So...I did get into game! Thanks for the inspiration Linda! Hoping I get more chance to go in, now need to decorate and put some landscaping in :joy:

It was incredibly hard working it out, but I do get what you mean about it's easier and also harder, somehow the steps seemed to line up better, I'm not sure, anyway I've managed to cobble it together.

It's the new one in Get Famous, think it's Del Sol Valley. The big homes are perched atop hills which allows some nice infinity pools! I made quite a lot of changes with the lot, but now decorating.

It dawned on me last night that there must be a new hood in Get Famous! Then I got busy working on my lot some more, too, and forgot to go look!

I'll have a look later today, and provide an empty world copy in a few days, also.

I LOVE what you've built. Can hardly wait until you upload it...you will, won't you? :joy:
