Desert Contemporary

Postby lindawing » December 20th, 2017, 11:02 am

I was thinking of this lot as "Modern," and it seemed to have, possibly, a "Sonoran" feel to it, but when I looked that up, I realized that Sonoran is usually set in a desert, but usually really isn't a modern style. The style isn't really a true modern, either, in that it has more of a stucco look to it, with a few modern touches. I finally found some images for "Contemporary," which seemed to be much more what I was dealing with. I love its lines, and even though there are things I couldn't create with TS4, we have gotten enough tools, now, that I could use the "half" walls in several different heights, to accomplish the boxy pillared look of some of the front porch emphasis. It took me the last five hours to get to the point where this picture could be taken. I'm sure there will be changes coming. The interior rooms are basically in (it's a very open plan downstairs, and pretty typical bedrooms & bathrooms upstairs, other than the upper deck arrangement. I had to change quite a bit, internally, basically because of the faux pillars and not being able to make divided/turned staircases. I sure miss being able to do that!

Anyway...here is a single photo from tonight. When I get a chance to finish the lot (probably not until after Christmas, now...baking is coming up for the next couple of days, and we're having our Christmas dinner on Saturday, due to Harry's work schedule), I'll add a reply form and put in the formal photos and the download links.

I finally finished it! Actually, I had gotten so busy with other things, that I had forgotten about it until tonight. It just needed the top floor furnished, so I jumped in and "got 'er done!"

The Lot Value is $178,696.
It's built on a 40x30 lot.
There are 3 Bedrooms and 3 Bathrooms.
Traits: Chef's Kitchen; Home Studio; and Natural Light

It's hard to tell by these photos, but the upstairs walls are all different reds, except for the bathrooms. Downstairs, all walls are the same.

Desert Contemporary--CORRECTED

Postby lindawing » June 29th, 2018, 5:07 am

I used the house last night, to house Martina Vega, a Sim I got from the Household Management Panel to tweak and move in there (that wasn't her name to begin with...the name she had just didn't seem to fit her, especially after all the tweaking I did).

NOTE: You can find pictures and a story about her, here: viewtopic.php?f=393&t=3528&p=28417#p28417

After I moved her in, I realized that she couldn't use the master bedroom & bath, because I had gotten an extra door on the bathroom NEXT to it, and none on the bedroom itself. OOOPS!

So I've corrected that, taken down the original (which had only five downloads, so it wasn't that big a sacrifice), and re-uploaded it in its corrected state.

Here's the part of the upper floor that has now been corrected.

I'll be adding Martina Vega in a separate topic, along with a version of her, married, with her new husband and baby!

To DOWNLOAD the lot, just go to the Gallery, search for my EA Account ID (lindawing), then look for Desert Contemporary.

Whilte you're at it, you might want to gather Martina alone, or Martina with her new husband and son!

I don't know why, but recently I've not been able to view the pictures posted. I had to ask "Cortana" about the picture and she showed it to me. Love, love, love this home!! :joy:

p.s. and once I posted a comment, then all the pictures show up... wow! Never had this issue before. Don't know what is going on, but at least there's a work around for it!! :yeah:

They've probably been blocked due to some sort of security thing, I imagine. (sigh)
