Sim State Boarding House

Postby MelodyOkie » August 5th, 2015, 9:56 pm

I've started on Sim State Boarding House and dealing with a problem in that the front entry is inset under the 2nd story. Sims 4 does not like that and even though there is a door there, it just looks like a hole in the wall. I've tried different things, but nothing worked, so Sim State Boarding House will look different, but hope enough like the original we'll all know that it is the Sim State Dorm from Sims 2. :evillaugh:

Pictures of what I'm talking about:
How the original was, as well as my Sims 3 version of it:

Just try that in Sims 4 and this is what you get:

The new version will look like this:

I'm very happy with how this has turned out, even though I had to adjust it. I've had to adjust all of my re-creations to fit Sims 4 anyway and I'm always happy with the new version!! I am very excited to say that the latest update came through before I had completed this build and I was able to include a Dishwasher!! Very happy about that.

So - a few more before pictures of the Sims 2 originals and my Sims 3 creation of it:

I hate that they haven't fixed that yet! It's been that way since the beginning, and it drives me nuts! :-(

Your workaround looks great, though. Good thinking!!!

Yes, after trying several different things, I realized it wasn't necessarily the overhang, but it was being enclosed as well on both sides that seemed to cause the glitch, so pushing back the one side and just adding posts did the trick. I lost one of the rooms, but didn't want to have as many rooms as the original anyway. I've revamped it inside (especially upstairs) to just 8 total rooms instead of 14. No reason for that many rooms! I will have 4 girlie rooms downstairs with the girls restroom facilities and 4 boylie rooms upstairs with the boys restroom facilities. (The boys get double beds, though, while the girls only get singles ... doesn't seem fair; however, Sims life isn't always fair ... :evillaugh: ) I imagine, in gameplay, those upstairs rooms could be used for couples. :uhhuh:
