What I Have Learned from Movies

Postby lindawing » April 4th, 2017, 2:03 am

A friend (the usual one who does cycles these kinds of things around) sent this out today. Got some giggles, and decided to share.

I'd be willing to bet that we can come up with some other things that we have learned, as well!

- - - - - - - - - -

1. Kitchens don't have light switches. When entering a kitchen at night, you should open the fridge door and use that light instead.

2. All grocery shopping bags contain at least one stick of French Bread.

3. If your town is threatened by an imminent natural disaster or killer beast, the mayor's first concern will be the tourist trade or his forthcoming art exhibition.

4. When paying for a taxi, don't look at your wallet as you take out a bill - just grab one at random and hand it over. It will always be the exact fare.

5. It is not necessary to say hello or goodbye when beginning or ending phone conversations.

6. A detective can only solve a case once he has been suspended from duty.

7. If being chased through town, you can usually take cover in a passing St. Patrick's Day parade - at any time of year.

8. All beds have special L-shaped cover sheets which reach up to the armpit level on a woman but only to the waist level on the man lying beside her.

9. The ventilation system of any building is the perfect hiding place -- no one will ever think of looking for you in there and you can travel to any other part of the building undetected.

10. A man will show no pain while taking the most ferocious beating but will wince when a woman tries to clean his wounds.

11. All telephone numbers in America begin with the digits 555.

12. Even when driving down a perfectly straight road, it is necessary to turn the wheel vigorously from left to right every few moments. Plus, you can drive for at least 10 seconds without looking where you are going.

13. It is always possible to park directly outside the building you are visiting.

14. It does not matter if you are heavily outnumbered in a fight involving martial arts -- your enemies will patiently attack you one by one by dancing around in a threatening manner until you have knocked out their predecessors.

15. Any lock can be picked by a credit card or a paper clip in seconds -- unless it's the door to a burning building with a child trapped inside.

Ethan says that movies always have someone say, "At least things can't get worse!" Three seconds later, the same guy says, "Well...I was wrong!" (as everything around him blows up)

Oh so weird, I was only thinking of the 555 thing the other day! So very true, all of them! Me and Alex said something the other day about something in TV shows but I can't for the life of me think what it is! Coffee always seems to be one too, everyone drinks it black!

I believe that 555 thing came in when we actually got special prefixes over here, back when my first kids were little. I think the 555 prefix was the one we had to use for information calls close to home, but not in prescribed local area. The number we had to call was [area code]-555-1212. Since then, it has shown up in all the movies, for sure!

I just thought of another one!

Bad guys wear black hats/shirts/coats/whole outfits, whereas good guys wear white!

Girls that grew up with those types of movies (almost all Westerns, at least) surely were confused when the dreamy guy from down the street who was really a BAD BOY, loved to wear white! You know? :yikes:

Also, good girls and/or smart girls always wear glasses, and bad girls wear bright red lipstick!

It's difficult to find anything decent to watch in today's day and time. There was a time when women dressed decently, even on tv. Now they all dress ... not so decently and I'm sick of seeing what I don't want to see.... :uhhuh:

Hollywood pushes it's own agenda - trying to make bad good and good bad. :uhhuh:

(Sorry - my take on movies and stuff from today's outlook.... :hug-group-2y2: )

I thought up a couple more...

If you're upset over a break up, you should eat ice cream right out of the huge tub with a spoon!

If there's a shoot up somewhere, don't crawl away slowly as you'll be found out for sure!
