Tranquility Ridge--The World and Its Denizens

This is a public forum. This world was developed as a "Members Only" project here at Neighborly SimsCraft. It has been in the works for over a year, and is an offshoot of the Farmington project. There are no roads in this world...only pathways. There are also no Rabbit Holes. This is a small, primitive, tranquil community. It's our Merry Christmas 2014 gift to you. We hope you enjoy it.

Tranquility Ridge--The World and Its Denizens

Postby lindawing » December 14th, 2014, 5:50 am

Tranquility Ridge was developed as an offshoot of Farmington. Farmington is a small rural community that has roads and at least a few Rabbit Holes. Tranquility Ridge has neither. There are a few holes dug by stray dogs, but none of the other kind. :rotfl:

Both worlds were developed from the Small World map, which was then customized for the different types of communities. This world was developed with all EPs and SPs in place. If you don't have something from one of them, it will just be left out. You'll still be able to use the world.

Because Tranquility Ridge has no roads, no adoptions can be completed. The Social Worker must arrive in a car, so it can't happen. If you make a new family and want them to have adopted children, start them in another world, get the adoptions done, then move them to TR to live out their lives.

Because there is no City Hall, no Sim can be officially self-employed. This world isn't about formal employment, anyway. It's about living on farms or in small homes in farm country. There is plenty of food to go around, and a family living can easily be made by selling produce at the local coffeehouse, which has a store register.

Transportation is by foot or horse (of course, you must have Pets, for the horses to be available), so it can take a good part of a day for your Sims to get from one side of the world to the other, which is appropriate for the type of world it is.

The lots in this world are all embedded in the world, so you don't need to download any of them. They are available exclusively with the world download (see the bottom of this post). All credits for the lots are given in the world, and the credits for the families are on their download pages (links in the photo tour, below). There are more residences than families created for them, so you can have fun filling up the rest of them with farm families of your own.

NOTE: I've also uploaded a saved game for you, if you don't want to download the families separately. It's at the very bottom of this post--right after the world download.

The members who actively participated in this project were (in alphabetical order):
. . . . .Carrie (psychedelicsim)
. . . . .Cherise (CreativeCreature) (by proxy--one of her lots from Farmington was adapted for Tranquility Ridge.)
. . . . .Linda (lindawing)
. . . . .Lisa (ukpoppyberry)
. . . . .Lynn (Lynnsfw1962) (by proxy--Midway Nectary was originally built for TMON, by Lynn, and I renovated it for TR.)
. . . . .Melody (MelodyOkie)
. . . . .Patty (MamaLambNC)
. . . . .Wendy (Hillcrest--deceased) (by proxy--Bridgeside Farm was one of her homes, which I renovated for TR.)

Thank you very much, ladies! It's been a long time coming to fruition, but here it is, and we can now all rejoice! :joy:

This is our Christmas 2014 gift to you--our other members, and our guests. We hope you enjoy playing it as much as we enjoyed making it for you.

Having said all of that, I'll now take you on a photo tour. At each stop I'll link the family download pages. You'll find the download link for the world, at the end of the post.

Here's the picture that I used for the world icon, and for the forum icon here.

Here's a view of Tranquility Ridge, with its public campground, looking out across the valley to Yoder Hill and Cinnamon Hill.

Just below Tranquility Ridge, lies Highpoint, which looks down on Bridgestone. The little ponds of Underhill are on the other, ocean side of the hill. Highpoint Library & Bookstore is also located here. It's a favorite spot for all the residents of TR.

In my game, the Wittmer Family has moved into Highpoint Farm #1.

You can download them HERE.

Sarah Hershberger matches up quite well with Highpoint Farm #4.

Sarah can be downloaded HERE.

Bridgestone (which gets its name because of the big rock beside the bridge that spans the river) boasts a resort and a fishing venue, as well as two residences.

Central Point is at the junction that leads upward to Highpoint and Tranquility Ridge. It is also central to Bridgestone and Overlook.

There's a family-owned livery stable there (or at least it's intended to be owned by Heather Hoofsteader). The Hoofsteader family own all three residences adjacent to the livery. There are instructions about how to divide the family, on their download page. Here are their pictures.

In my saved game, for some reason, Portia Hoofsteader is wearing different everyday clothing than what I originally gave her (see her picture above). I'm not sure why that happened, but the game is infamous for substituting clothing when there's no reason. She looks nice, so that's OK.

The (undivided) family can be downloaded HERE

It's not clear whether Overlook gets its name from being overlooked by Tranquility Ridge, or by the fact that it overlooks the river (and Coffee Point), being at a midpoint in elevation. Some of the residents of TR will tell you one way, and some the other. :yeah:

The Miller Family (the ones created by Lisa--not related to the other two Miller Families) fits very well into Overlook Farm #1.

They can be downloaded HERE.

Willow Point sports three lovely residences--all of which are occupied in my game.

Martha Miller (not related to Lisa's Miller Family or Cherise's Miller Family) lives in Willow Point Cottage.

She can be downloaded HERE.

Isaac and Sadie Zook have taken up residence at Willow Point Farm #1.

They can be downloaded HERE.

Mark and Martha Zimmerman love Willow Point Farm #2.

They can be downloaded HERE.

Because this little area (which has only one residence and a tiny park) is right at the end of the bridge that leads to Bridgestone, it has been tagged Bridgeside.

Midway's midway between Bridgeside and Cherry Point. There are no residences in Midway. There are, however, the beautiful Midway Nectary and the Midway Orchard (which is very handy to the nectary).

Cherry Point boasts both fruitless cherry trees (so pretty all year), and a nice little cherry orchard as well. There's also a fancy cherry-colored park for relaxing when the cherry-picking is done.

The plain but pretty house at the end of the point (just above the fishing venue) belongs to the third Miller Family (the ones created by Cherise).

They can be downloaded HERE.

Just past Cherry Point Fishing Hole, at the river's inlet, Shipwreck Island is a great picnic spot that can be reached either by boat or swimming. Unfortunately, there's no way we can either get rid of the boats or choose just rowboats, or we would have. The only powered vehicles in TR are the boats (sigh)

Around the corner from Cherry Point, well-hidden from general view, is Junkyard Corner. It's full of junk, of course, but some of it (like the old Conestoga wagon) are considered historical landmarks. Oh...and there's an old, wrecked car there, that is said to have quite a history, as well!

TR-121314-JunkyardCorner.jpg (432.88 KiB) Viewed 646 times

The pathway continues from Junkyard Corner, all the way to Graveyard Corner, which is where the original town of Tranquility was located. As you can see, that, too, is now a graveyard--of old (though still somewhat picturesque) houses). The pathway leading away from here leads back to Willow Point.

TR-121314-GraveyardCorner.jpg (456.39 KiB) Viewed 646 times

If you take the path back to Bridgeside, then turn right, you can go up the hill toward both Cinnamon Hill and Yoder Hill. We'll go right, at the top, and see Cinnamon Hill first. Can you guess how that area got its name?

TR-121314-CinnamonHill.jpg (426.97 KiB) Viewed 645 times

There are two families up on Cinnamon HIll. The Lengacher Family lives at Cinnamon Hill Farm #1.

You'll find their download page HERE.

Then at Cinnamon Hill Farm #3, the Schwartz Family has moved in.

They can be downloaded HERE.

It was because of the Yoders, that Tranquility Ridge came into being. Patty created the large Yoder Family and their farm, as one of her very first building projects. I fell in love with the farm and the family, and from there, I began to plan to transform Farmington into Tranquility Ridge, just for them. Originally, I had planned to name the world Yoderville. However, someone else at the TS3 Exchange came out with a completely different Yoder family with a town all their own, right at that same time! So we discussed things here, and came up with the name Tranquility Ridge, which is all about living a tranquil, countrified, plain life...a life such as the Amish might least the best way we can present it in a game like The Sims 3.

Here is Yoder Hill, which features the Yoder Farm and its Dower House, which belongs to the Lapps, who are Emma's parents. Yoder Hill Chapel & School is also located on Yoder Hill, along with Wild Berry Farm--a small produce stand with its own garden area.

You have some choices to make, when you download the Yoders and the Lapps. They can either be downloaded as two separate families, with no actual relationship (which can be rectified by using Master Controller), or the combined family can be downloaded and added to the Yoder Farm, then the Lapps can be moved out to the Dower House.

NOTE: You will need to be running Master Controller to move the combined family into the farmhouse, since there are 10 of them all together!

Here are the Yoder Family on their own.

They may be downloaded HERE.

The Lapp Family is only two members, on its own.

You can find them HERE.

Put them together, and you have a 10 members.

The combined family is HERE.

There are three other small areas that can be accessed from the junction at Central Point, or by going past Bridgestone, on around the corner, or by taking the hillside pathway that leads down, just past the Tranquility Ridge Campground.

Starting from Central Point, staying on the path that follows the river toward Shipwreck Island, you come to Coffee Point, which only has one lot: A Cup of Kindness. This is where the store register is. It's been set as a Java Hut since University came out, and it serves as TR's general store. It's a great point for Sims to gather for their social needs as well as their groceries that can't be grown in their gardens or on their farms.'s also a bait shop, and they DO sell a mean cup of java, as well!

TR-121314-CoffeePoint.jpg (403.88 KiB) Viewed 646 times

Continuing on the path, away from the river, you will reach Picnic Corner.

Considered a wonderful fishing spot as well as a place to picnic, the little park at the corner also has places for the kids to play. It's a wonderful place to spend time with your friends and neighbors, when you really want to get away from it all.

TR-121314-PicnicCorner.jpg (375.41 KiB) Viewed 646 times

Even further around, just past where the hillside pathway ends, you'll come to two little ponds that have been named Underhill #1 and Underhill #2, for obvious reasons. They are just little fishing spots with some nice shade. You can either fish in the ponds or in the ocean...your choice.

TR-121314-Underhill-01.jpg (433.24 KiB) Viewed 646 times

TR-121314-Underhill-02.jpg (443.27 KiB) Viewed 646 times

That's the end of the tour, and now we hope you'll go ahead and download the world which we have very lovingly created for your pleasure.

This is my saved game with all the families already added to the lots shown above. It has not been played. Just download the .zip file, then unpack it to somewhere for safe-keeping. Then move the folder to your SAVES folder. When you go into your game, the world will be there waiting for you to play.
