Create a Sim Texture Unitool Basic Tutorial

Postby ukpoppyberry » February 26th, 2014, 11:08 am

I tried to use more pictures than words, I've not gone into great depth as I am new to this too and I think it's a fairly easy little program to use once you have the basics.

Simple CAS Clothing Tutorial

Go here and get CasTextureUnitool.rar and CasParts.rar download to desktop and unzip. Then take the casparts file out of the main folder and place it into the CasTextureUnitool folder.

You will also need .NETFramework 2.0, Direct X Runtime and a DDS plugin for your paint program.

Save the file somewhere you can find it. Once you have finished place the file into MyComputer/C:/ProgramFiles/Electronic Arts/TheSims3/Mods/Packages/Skins

You can mess around with adding different patterns and changing categories of clothing in the part category, it’s fairly easy to work it all out once you know the basics.

You can change the alpha.

You will then get an image of the flat clothing, tick the alpha box click export and save somewhere. I have made a new file on my desktop called TS3Projects.

Open up the DDS in your paint program and modify it, you can change just the texture or the alpha or both.

In my paint program (Paint Shop Pro XI) I find the alpha by Selections/LoadSaveSelection/LoadSelection from Alpha Channel.

Thanks for bringing this over, Lisa! I remembered yesterday that I haven't installed any of my Sims3 third-party tools since I made the new system. I must get that done one of these days!
