The Start of Recoloring CaS Things

Have you begun making CC for TS4? Here's the public forum where you may share your creations. Since the things we make have to ultimately be uploaded to the Gallery, this forum will be for photos, discussion, and Gallery identification--at least until the modders figure out how we can do this otherwise.

The Start of Recoloring CaS Things

Postby lindawing » September 4th, 2014, 10:58 am

I forgot to start this topic when I found it on Tuesday afternoon. I've already shared the link with Lisa, who I thought would really want to see it, because of all the work she's done with Sims clothing for both TS2 and TS3 (go, Lisa!). :uhhuh:

I've downloaded the new S4PE and the newest version of the DDS Texture Tools from NVIDIA (which can be used with Paint Shop Pro, as well as with PhotoShop--DDS is built into Paint.net, I believe, and the plugs can also be used with GIMP, I think), and one of these days soon I'll be looking into doing this, too. I used to do a lot of BodyShop work for TS2, and I also used to recolor clothing for TS1 (though I never shared anything for that game that I recolored). To me, the recoloring is just about as much fun (if not more fun) than either building in or playing the games themselves. :uhhuh:

So...if you want to check this very new process out, here's the link:

If any 3rd party mod or tool or cc from a 3rd party mod or tool is used in any of our projects, could we please ask that this is noted on any upload using them? This way, those of us who might rather not have it in our game for whatever reason, would be alerted about it, please?

Agreed. I have a feeling, though, that it will be like the purchasable stuff. If you don't already have it in your game from having downloaded it elsewhere or making it yourself, that it won't show up in the downloads. We'll have to experiment before making things openly available. :uhhuh:

Absolutely!! Thank you Linda!! It will be wonderful if everyone will disclose whether they've used anything outside of the game for their creation when they post it here. That way, those few that wish to can and those that wish not to, won't accidentally get something they would rather not. :uhhuh:

I tried Sims 4 Studio yesterday and it worked great, with one exception...I couldn't get my recolors to show up in the game. It worked in all of the tutorials with no problems, so I'm not sure what I was doing wrong. I think I'll wait until the program is more stable before I give it a try again. On the plus side, creating recolors is really easy. :uhhuh:

I was going to download it last night, and I forgot! Glad to know the process, at least, is easy. :uhhuh:

I went ahead and downloaded it just now...it's small. I'm pulling in a few more tools tonight, as well (S4pe, Blender, Color Magic, and something else)--have them all scheduled to download after 2 AM.

So I'll know where to find them (and others can, too, of course...grin), I'm posting the link to the Studio tutorials:
