Resizing Images with Microsoft Paint

Postby lindawing » February 25th, 2014, 1:07 am

This tutorial was originally posted for us, by Kim (playKIMSIM), who is no longer simming or doing forums. She and I keep in touch, and she's doing well. Thank you, Kim, for this excellent tutorial!

NOTE: Paint.NET has had at least two updates since this tutorial was written. However, the process described here is pretty much the same. I couldn't see anything that looked like it would give anyone any problems. If you have any questions, please ask in a new post.

Resolutions reduced BY 50%

800x600 = 400x300
1024x768 = 512x384
1152x864 = 576x384
1280x720 = 640x360
1280x768 = 640x384
1280x800 = 640x400
1280x960 = 640x480
1280x1024= 640x512
1360x768 = 680x340
1440x900 = 720x450

My Images are 1024x768 Divded by 50% is 512x384 and works for me.

5) Choose: Move to Folder

Open Paint

1) Choose: Edit Choose: Paste From.
2) Find the folder you moved your images to.
3) Choose: View Menu.
4) Choose: Thumbnails.

Note: Across the top of the page:you'll see: File-Edit-Image-Colors-Help

5) Choose: Image.
6) Choose: Choose Stretch and Skew

7) Type % in both Boxes.(I used 50%) the picture will resize proportionately.

Your done...you now have a 512 x 384 JPEG IMAGE (around 51.3 KB)

Don't forget to save as: Name your picture...
