Merry Christmas & Happy New Year x 3 (for 2016/2017)

Postby lindawing » December 22nd, 2016, 7:40 am

So...OK...about the time we started getting into the holiday spirit around here, this year, evrything started going nutso here. David got lobar pneumonia and had to spend the last week in the hospital. While doing all the checks for the pneumonia, they discovered that his aortic valve needs replacing. He has to have open heart surgery with a valve replacement and a single bypass, probably the first week in January. Meanwhile, we've been fighting "the crud" around here, with a couple of general rounds of the stuff. Then, three nights ago, Harry (who works nights) tried to slice off his left thumb while taking out the trash just heading to bed early Monday morning.

David is home, now, though he has to go early tomorrow morning, to Sioux Falls (approximately 3 hours from here) to consult with the heart surgeon for 15 minutes or so, Harry's hand is healing well, and Judi and I (though fighting fatigue) are beginning to catch up on our sleep a bit.

Several nights ago, I decided I'd try to make a triple Christmas gift--a small house created in TS2 that I would try to make similarly in TS3 then one triplicated as much as possible in TS4.

I started on the one in TS2, but had to really THINK about how to build, back that far! I do have it ready to finish furnishing then decorate...probably starting tomorrow afternoon. I was gonna use a 1x1 residential lot, but finally decided I needed the 2x1 lot. Then I realized that I'm pretty sure that at least one of my TS2 holiday packs isn't installed (sigh).

Here are a couple of early pictures of my TS2 start. I probably won't get the three lots (and resident Sims) completed before Christmas, but I do hope to have them done by New Year's Day.

If you'd like to join in and do a set, also, please feel free. Just add them into one or more REPLIES in the appropriate topic. ;-) I decided to make my CC-free, but you don't have to. If you use CC, just be sure to give any information, and probably include meshes, at least, with links to the CC for downloading, and don't forget to give credit where credit is due. :joy:

Sure! It has 2 bedrooms in the basement. Upstairs is all living. I had no idea, yet, where to go, on family, soif you want to fill them in, that would be lovely!

I kind of had been thinking to have the same family for each version, but what about a generational thing? The land in TS3 can be slightly larger with a small house expansion, and the family of the TS2 version (their child and family) could live there. Then they could pass the house down another generation, to one of their own children, for the even more-expanded TS4 version.

What do you think?

Here is the TS2 Lot, completely furnished and decorated for Christmas. I had it all decorated and then moved my test Sim out, and somehow ended up deleting ALL the furnishings!!! WOW!!! :wow:

So I went back in, refurnished it, and made it better...so there! I have carefully checked, and this lot installs correctly, and it is furnished. Whew!!!

Very nice. :joy:

I've made a sim included with my house, however, I can't remember how to do any of this stuff in TS2 anymore. (sigh) I have the package and could upload it, with pics, however, I want to test install and use first. And can't figure out how to get it into the game!!

Why don't you send it to me in a PM, and I'll see if it installs with Clean Installer, and if I can figure out what the unknown element is. If it is occupied, it may just be a memory. If so, I can re-save it with the memory removed.

It took me a while to figure out a lot of things about building, that used to be second nature to me. Had to laugh at myself.

Remember when I used to complain (and probably still do) about having to build without cc? Now you know what I was going through, huh? I searched for over an hour last night for my Christmas stuff! Finally found the tree & decorations BUT never did find any Christmas clothes....pajamas or otherwise! What did you do Melody? I did find some stuff that others had made but....that would be using cc & I'm trying to keep it clean. I guess they'll just have to have ugly clothes! LOL!!

I didn't even look in CaS. I'll see what I can find in my game. I'm vaguely remembering some clothing. Looking at the case for my Party Pack, I'm seeing hats, pajamas, and a Santa Suit. I think there's a female version of that, as well. I'll check in a couple of hours.

Here is my Christmas Birdhouse. I am still working with my Birdie House (Sim) to get her packaged with the house and without the extra files since I can't answer any questions about the 2 files that come with her when I package them together. I can't seem to remember how to get her individually either, so bear with me on this one.

Please be aware there are two files that include a "Mesh" and an unknown. Those files, from what I have been able to determine just come with the package when both the sim and the house are packaged together. After testing by removing those files placing home and sim and repackaging, those files are there regardless. I do not believe them to be "cc" or something that should not be there, however, if that is not the case, please let me know and remember - you can always install without them by unchecking them in your clean installer. Hopefully everyone is using the "Clean Installer" these days. It's the best and as far as I'm concerned, the only way to install a Sims 2 file!! It's the safest way and keeps you in control of what goes in and what comes out of your game. :friends:

Here is the file without the 2 extra game generated files:

And I apologize Linda if I should have made a new post for this? :ohoh:

Birdie House just moved in to her "Bird" House the day before Christmas Eve. She is ready to be on her own after recently realizing she had a life. One day she didn't and the next day she did. She is really confused, but happy to be here and have a place of her own. She does hope in the future, she will meet someone and have a family. That is her dream.... sometime she will be happy to move on from 2 to 3. Wonder what changes she will see; or should I say we will see?
