Small World isn't built on the smallest map available in Create-a-World. It's not THAT kind of small world. What it is, however, is a WORLD. Inside the world, there are a number of communities to which I will introduce you. Each small community has a special ambiance, or "flavor," if you will, so that you may plan the homes and businesses you place there, accordingly. Because the world isn't created on the BIGGEST CaW map, either, these communities are arranged in significant groupings, but they are not far apart.

The other special intent of this world, and the main reason for its name, is that no lots (except Rabbit Holes, for obvious reasons) are more than 25x25 grid spaces. You will mainly find empty lots of 10x10, 10x15, 10x20, 20x20, and 25x25 in size. There are a few others thrown in, in odd sizes (including a couple that are only 6x6, some 8x8, and even one 15x15, with a few more variations here and there). This is part of the challenge of this Small World. Just wait until you see what you can already download to help fill up the lots. Plus you can challenge yourself to build more workable, usable, fantastic SMALL lots to go in your own Small World.

Small World was created using no Custom Content. However, you may find items from the base game, every expansion, and every stuff pack. The world itself should work even if you don't have all the EPs and SPs. However, some things in the world may be missing or may not work exactly right. You can give it a try, anyway. If it doesn't work well, just uninstall it.

Let's begin our tour of Small World at the very top. The apex of the entire world is WATERFALL NATIONAL PARK. Going by the way the sun rises and sets in this world, the park is at the NW edge of the map, at the top of the highest mesa. The lot which contains the park was carefully crafted to bring the water level up to the top mesa, and to allow the world's waterfall animations to be used to the best effect I could manage. As you can see here, the water seems to flow out of the park's lake, directly into the waterfall which is one of the world's key features.

On the top mesa, along with the park, is TOPSIDE. This small community holds one Rabbit Hole--Topside Business Park, which is coded as a hangout, as there are picnic tables and parking spaces around the perimeter of the business building. There are a couple of other community spots (tagged for two of the specific downloads you'll find connected with this project, though they may be used for anything you like, ultimately). Mainly, though, there is a lovely array of groomed residential lots, in a variety of sizes (as mentioned above). As you can see by this photo, there is a certain type of tree (Dogwood, I think, but I can't remember for sure) encircling the perimeter of this small community of TOPSIDE.

From Topside, one must follow the road downhill to DOWNTOWN.

Appropriately, the downtown area contains the largest percentage of the necessary Rabbit Holes for a complete Sims world. As well as the Police Station, the Hospital, the Stadium, the School, the City Hall, and the Theater, you'll also find the Fire Station and a Consignment Store (which supposedly sells electronic equipment of all types...it's placed right next to the big satellite dish). There are some empty residential and community lots which you may fill as you like, and several lovely parking and rest areas along the western bank of the mesa. The reddish trees around this community's perimeter are quite different from the trees found in the rest of the world. The views over the ocean are quite spectacular.

Leaving Downtown, your Sims have two choices. The western road takes you directly to ADOBE. This community was planned to accommodate houses of the Southwestern Style, even though it exists in Small World's northwestern area, physically. We have a number of adobe- or brick-style houses for you to download now, and you can easily add more, yourself. Many of these houses are true "starter" homes. As for the spawners in this area, you'll probably find more beetles than anything, with cockroaches running a close first. There are two main features in existence.

One is the Base Camp, which contains many of the elements of the base camps in World Adventures, though the cash registers for those areas won't work in this base world, so there is just a food register there. The bulletin board, however, works for finding "adventures" or "opportunities" in the base world! Because of its unique properties, the Base Camp also provides true living and sleeping opportunities for any homeless Sims who might need them. There are four FULLY-furnished basement levels, each with identical comforts--including laundry facilities, kitchenettes, double beds, bathrooms, TVs, and reading materials. The Base Camp also offers outdoor eating--just take the back door through the little office area. Upstairs is the "owner's" apartment, which as far as your Sims are concerned is just another area in which to eat, drink, and be merry (and sleep it off, later on).

Moving to the end of the small mesa, you'll find that the community doesn't end there! There's an ancient trail chiseled into the rock side of the mesa, that leads down to a well-used fishing spot. From there, trails also lead to two other, stairstep mesas, which contain both residential and community spaces. Have fun developing them! The predominance of trees in these four small areas that make up Adobe, are olive trees. Too bad they don't actually have fruit on them that could be gathered and sold.

Going back Downtown, your Sims may access the rest of the island by taking the left turn just before reaching City Hall. The sweeping turn at the bottom accesses three distinct communities.

On the right (at the southern tip of the world), there's SOUTH BEACH, which is a developed residential community. There are two buildings built to reflect their sandy surroundings. One is a community activity hangout, and the other is similar, but incorporates a gas station (which doesn't do anything except LOOK like one, of course). These are both great places for photo ops of the area, if you take your Sims to visit. The beach area itself is developed for a number of smaller and larger homes, plus one coded BEACH area (not yet developed). Notice the signature palm trees in this community. There is a Tiny Apartment Building at the southern end of the development.

Before coming to the bridge, on the other side of the road from South Beach, lies the completely residential ASPEN CORNER. As you can see, this small area has seven residential spaces just waiting for your Sims to develop. The trees in this area are...you guessed it...aspens.

We'll come back to Military Point later, as it can be accessed by a bridge on the northern end of the river, as well. Moving north from Aspen Corner, your Sims can find DOWNHILL FLATS, which contains two important Rabbit Holes: the Criminal Warehouse and the Science Lab. There is also space for a church and a graveyard, and the intended space for a gym and a small junkyard, plus empty residential lots in a variety of (small) sizes.

As you can see in this photo, as evening comes on, a mist begins to gather around the river (which is getting closer to the ocean at Lighthouse Point). Hika Lani (who is a self-employed angler in my game, now) has worked her way to the northern end of Downhill Flats, and is enjoying the late evening fishing under one of the big willow trees that distinctively surround that area. The path where she's standing leads around a bluff to Lighthouse Point.

Staying on the main road, however, SMALL HILL ESTATES and CAMP SMALL are next. As you proceed up the hill, Small Hill Estates is on your immediate right, and is all residential.

To the left, you'll see the buildings and campsites of Camp Small. There are tent camp sites (which are buyable residential lots). There's a camp store, a diner, and two washroom/laundromats, with places for cabins to be built, as well. The mossy oak trees lend a protected, private feel to the entire campground. One of the campsites has been developed for you. Here, Hika Lani is living in it. She loves to spend her time just walking around and picking up things and collecting items, or looking at the beautiful waterfall as it tumbles from the national park above. As you can see by the photo showing the spawners, there are PLENTY of things to find on this mesa.

Leaving Small Hill, the road dips back to sea level, at LIGHTHOUSE POINT. There are a couple of small community lots down by the lighthouse (a bait shop and a gas station). The other few lots are residential, and what a lovely setting they have. There are very few trees--mainly weeping willow. Here, Hika Lani has found her way to the rich fishing grounds near the lighthouse. You see her looking out toward North Beach on the other side of the river. By the way, I have tested, and your Sims CAN fish off this bridge!!! Thinking of all the fishing spots in this world, I'm reminded that you should know that the Death Fish is NOT to be found in a graveyard (at least not in the one that is downloadable at this point). It IS, however, to be found SOMEWHERE along the river. The Robot Fish is incorporated into the world fishing areas, as well. Every available type of fish spawner has been placed, even though your Sims can actually reach their highest levels of angling WITHOUT a single spawner in place (which I was very surprised to discover while developing this world).

Directly across the river from Lighthouse Point, one comes to NORTH BEACH. Sago palms and beach grasses are in abundance. There are two "swimming" (if only) beaches to be developed, and one big residential lot on the actual expanse of North Beach. If you are careful and use the appropriate cheats at the right times, you can actually sculpt some underwater swimming pools in which it will LOOK like your Sims are swimming in the ocean. Give it a try! It's very rewarding.

Directly past the second beach lot, a path swings around the bluff, headed for HIDDEN BEACH. There are only two lots in that little cove The large one at the bottom is a great fishing area...all sandy beach (it's an empty lot). Up on a little mini-mesa, at the far end of the cove, there's a tiny restroom with a picnic table, a swing, a chess table, a bookcase, and lots of things to pick up and collect. It's in a fenced area, with big rocks and palm trees all around...a great place for a little privacy and "me" time.

Taking the same pathway back out to North Beach, you can go over the dunes, and onto the highway once again, traveling in the NORTH RIVER area. Directly across the road from the dunes, there's a small rest area with some residential lots and a HUGE expanse of undeveloped river beach (with freshwater fishing). The closer you get to Military Point, the more residential lots appear.

Just past North River, you come to MILITARY POINT, where there is a preponderance of evergreens. One type surrounds the housing area of the military base (which you come to first, on your way from north to south, along the river). Past the residential setting, you find the actual base, along with a radio station sponsored by military personnel. There's a live music dance club inside the radio station building, for the troops and their guests. Behind the military station, there are a couple of larger residential lots, and across the street there are some smaller ones. This is a beautiful area--especially during sunrises and sunsets. Looking back from the base, you can see the green span bridge that leads to South Beach, etc., and on down the river to Lighthouse Point, etc.

Just before you get to the radio tower, a road leads steeply uphill toward...UPHILL. At the top, to the right, there's neat and tidy little community center that contains the supermarket, a full-service salon, the Uphill Bistro, and the Uphill Bookstore and Library. This mesa is large, with a great variety of residential lot sizes (6x6 through 25x25). Birch trees predominate.

Looking from south to north, you can see that one end looks a bit dirty on the eastern side. That's because it is. This is FARMVILLE (inspired by Zynga's FaceBook game). Farmville is laid out with a complete working farm (Homeplace, Orchard, Nectary, Ponds, & Consignment Store/Market). That's the most NE corner of Farmville. The rest of the farming community is made up of residential lots (for your country homes), and one small Dance Club lot for your hoedowns.

SO...there you have it! All these small communities make up this one SMALL WORLD! I hope you and your Sims thoroughly enjoy your time here.

If you don't have to worry about bandwidth limitations, you can DOWNLOAD THIS FILE. The Sims3Pack file for the world is zipped (about 40 MB). Once you unzip it, you can install the world through the Sims 3 Launcher.

If you are limited to dial-up or have a slower bandwidth connection, you can download this 4-part .rar file (each part us under 12 MB). You'll have to have an archive utility with which to open it (such as WinRar, 7Zip, or StuffIt). When you double-click on PART 1, the file will recombine all the parts. Then you'll have to open the archive, then use the Sims3Pack installer to install the world, through the Sims 3 Launcher.
