The Sims Of Widespot And Beyond

Postby PattyHeart » February 8th, 2015, 4:04 am

Widespot is a quirky custom neighborhood created by Peni Griffin and is found at Mod The Sims.

http://modthesims.info/d/497926
(There is also a Shopping District version of Widespot that can be added to any existing neighborhood.)

THE HOUSEHOLDS:

BEECH
Daytona Beech has worked untiringly for the development of Widespot. Will the stress of change make this family stronger, or tear it apart?

HART
After the Hot Tub Dome Scandal and his wife's diagnosis with Rodney's Sudden Death Syndrome, international sports star Valentine Hart retired with his family to the quietest place he could find. Can he and his children recover from the trauma of her untimely death here? Or just make everyone else as big a mess as they are?

MANN
Rich Mann has it all. He came to Widespot to protect it from prying eyes, and retire in comfort.

LAND
Homer and Beulah came to Widespot to get away from parental disapproval. Now that the highway's here, their kids are in public school, and with Mary home Beulah got a job. Their kids face lots of opportunities now - for good and ill.

WEISS
Skye Weiss came to Widespot, with his trust fund, to watch the stars. They watched back. Now the trust fund is gone, Penny's grown, Woody's growing, the highway's come through bringing new people with it - what's a hermit to do?

ROUND ONE:
This time around I have begun with the Beech household. Beech family members automatically inherit Grilled Cheese as a second aspiration. I have also decided to limit each household to specific careers. A common trait in the Beech family line is a desire to have some control and influence over others. Careers they can choose from are" Politics, Law Enforcement, Education and The Legal profession.

ROUND TWO:
Where to begin? Each one of the households have been played for a season and all of the expectant mums have given birth.

HART: Valentine (who did not really wish to wed anyone!), but who takes being a father most seriously; married Mary Land for the sake of his unborn child. OK. Well, Valentine jumped at the chance to improve his reputation. He had a home built meant to impress other Widespot residents as part of his plan to claim a spot at -- or at least close to the top of the local pecking order - right up there with the Mann and Beech families. No one's business that Valentine took out a loan and that his part time job as a dance instructor is more than "just a fun hobby thing". He and Mary named thier daughter Sweet Hart.

MANN: Junior is following in his father's footsteps career wise. His mother is urging him to find a wife from a suitable family (preferably one who will not ask too many questions and will just be happy having money to spend). A façade of respectability, honesty and clean living is most important to the Mann family. A legitimate heir is needed.

LAND: The parents are doing well career wise and take pride in raising well behaved off spring (well, we won't talk about Mary "getting herself in trouble" out of wedlock!) who are doing very well in school. They miss Mary being there to take care of her siblings as well as housework and cooking.

WEIS: Shortly following the birth of Penny's son, Oldand Wise, the entire Weise family packed up and moved far off from Widespot - in the middle of the night of all things! That old hermit scientist had become even more reclusive and downright secretive. For some reason Woody was recruited into the military while yet in high school and the family has kept silent about whatever job it is that Penny has taken on. Very mysterious goings on out there on the far edge of Widespot. Where oh where have they vanished to?

BEECH: Career wise all is rolling ahead smoothly for this Political family. Daytona has her sights set for her family beyond Widespot and will do or encourage whatever it takes to reach the very top.

(I moved the Kat household from Pets into town simply because she is the type who is naturally attracted to such a place.)

One thing that becomes very evident right at the get-go is that there has been a lot of 'hanky panky; going on amongst the adults. Oh well, it has been a long winter with little else to do. Anyways, the result is a new crop of babies and plenty of story material!

Because there are now two separate Hart households I've six to visit each round -so, will take a little longer. What I plan to do is to visit and report on one at a time. Also I will take more pictures.

Here is a peek into the Beech household from early on. Daytona runs her family with a heavy hand. How else will they beat out any local competition? (Well, other than cheats and bribes..) Her daughter in law's job is to produce healthy grandchildren for Daytona's political stable.

Instead of a detailed story line I will be sharing just the high lights and interesting bits of news and pictures.

It has been found out that Skye Wies sold his Widespot property and has relocated his family way off in desolate, isolated Viper Valley -- where he is working on two secret projects. Skye also has a very hush-hush arrangement with the Beech family and who are benefiting from his secret age reduction juice.

Meanwhile, Penny has been reconnecting with her friends back in Widespot anxious to know every bit of news and gossip and every little detail of everyone's life. You'd think this would rouse suspicion but for the fact that Penny has always been a likeable, nosey busy-body.

Thank you, Linda. My goal is to play one household through a season each day - or as often as possible. I am also keeping this backed up to avoid repeating past lost game progress tragedies. Currently have ONLY custom hoods in my game - the "Maxis' N'hoods tend to come with problems that can eventually appear and multiply. After the latest go-round I no longer play the 'canned hoods; --they get deleted. Widespot is a nice, well behaved town when it comes to long term play.

First thing I did today was to actually write out a rotation schedule to hopefully lessen my own confusion. My intention was to play each household for a season and that has morphed into playing each one until I decide it is time to move on.

This was a sad Season for the Beech household; Judge and Matriarch Daytona suddenly kicked the bucket leaving son and heir, Hamilton a hefty $9,600. Virginia, Rocky and youngest grandson Pebble received form $2, 400 to $2, 5oo each. Oshun ( Sandy's Love child) received $350 and Sandy was given a lump sum of Zero.

Apparently Daytona was not happy seeing how quickly DIL Sandy has moved up and is currently serving as a State Assembly Person. Never mind Judge Hamilton despite his advancing age refuses to retire ( which is something any self respecting Beech will not give in to!). It was Daytona's dying command that Oshun should be sent to live with her natural father; something that Sandy is reluctant to agree to. However, she has begun to waver after Hamilton threatened to divorce her, cut her off with out a penny and to take away her parental rights with thier two minor children - teenage Rocky and Pebble who just became a child. Sandy is just not sure what to do!

Virginia Beech has been a young adult for a while now and works as a Personal Injury Attorney. She is very career oriented with no romantic interest and no desire at all to have children.

Teen Rocky is an A plus student who has reached the top of his teen career, He is currently a part time substitute teacher.

Oshun is also an A plus student. It broke her heart ( and explained a few things at the same time) when Daytona informed Oshun that she is not her grandchild and is not considered to be a Beech and should not have been granted the Beech family name. Oshun cries often and thinks it is so wrong how the others believe they've the right to cheat and lie thier way through life. Perhaps if she were a "real Beech" Oshun might see things as they do?

Daytona doted on grandson Pebble and made it known that Pebble needs to be carefully groomed and prepared for a successful career in politics. (Whatever it takes!)

Wow! When I was in the Beech family just briefly the other day, Sandy was hanging over the toilet, so I assumed she was pregnant, but the next day, SHE passed away. So now I'm guessing the "sudden-death-syndrome" thing can take out a RANDOM Sim, right?

I have not seen a "sudden death" like this in my game. I do know that there is a glitch ;Pregnancy Sudden Death Syndrome; which is mended with the University Patch or can be fixed using Sim PE.

In Widespot history Valentine Hart's wife death was made to happen via a 'cheat ' - and was a one time, isolated event.

If you are playing the UC version you may wish to double check to be certain that it is fully patched via Origin.

Not playing the UC version, and all my patches are in place. I'm thinking the glitch, then, somehow got connected from the one-time, isolated event, during the translation to the old game. I've never had that happen before, in any of my games. That was a new one on me.

I'm not going to play them, anyway, so it's not a problem. I just can't seem to get into TS2 at all. I got very antsy, very quickly, the other day, when looking through things. If I were to play them, I'd probably just go with the flow, anyway. :uhhuh:
