GGG--Are We There Yet? (Let's Play, Survival)

I've gotten interested in creating Challenge and/or Adventure Maps for Minecraft. As I learn more about these and have creations to offer, they will be posted here.

GGG--Are We There Yet? (Let's Play, Survival)

Postby lindawing » March 10th, 2018, 1:40 pm

I started this Let's-Play Survival World Series because three different people have asked me why I haven't done that yet, for YouTube. You all know who you are, so I won't name any names, but here we go! For the first three episodes, I'll do a day-to-day video, then after that, I'll only add videos as I have something important to add.

I'm playing in Survival, with Cheats On, because I'm mainly playing this for fun. When I'm doing my MHC or Base Race challenges, no cheats are ever used (except that we can use Creative when building our Bases for Base Race). Also, in MHC, there are all sorts of other constraints. I love the challenges, but when I'm playing for fun, just Minecraft and me, I like to use the cheats, sometimes, to get things like Command Blocks and these days, Structure Blocks.

I'll be building some things, and I'm going to do my best, when building houses, to NOT build symmetrically. You all may have to help me with that, with suggestions. I'll also be asking for your input regarding WHAT things to build. I do like to play around with Redstone, but I'm not your traditional or I-know-everything-about-Redstone builder...not in the LEAST! Even when I use videos by the experts to learn how to build something (like secret doors, vending machines, XP grinders, etc.) I'm prone to take things a few more steps, just because I like stretching parameters, and sometimes just dressing things up a bit.

This is going to be hard for me, for the main reason that I don't generally keep my worlds around very long, except for things like my Railroad Challenge, that is now going into its third year. I DO keep copies of my videos, along with a final world backup, so that I COULD make a copy at some point, and go back in to play the world further. Generally speaking, though, that doesn't happen. I will try really hard to keep this world going for a long time, and build lots of fun things, and just keep exploring and exploring, and mining and mining, etc.

The world will also progress naturally when new versions of the game are released, so at some point, this world will have lovely new stuff in it, like kelp and turtles! Until then, it will be the "same old same old," which really is still fairly new, right now, in 1.12.2, with which I'm starting.

So there you have it. Please use the comments to ask questions and suggest things, and I'll do my best to keep up with everything. :-)

In case you'd like to play the same World I'm using, here is the information you'll need.

The Seed (like the World Name) is:
Are We There Yet?

It's also generated by the game as:
-300037543

Otherwise, it's a completely Default World with Structures On.

The Desert Temple as it looks in my 1.12.2 Backup of the world at the end of EP #2. In EP #5 (in 18w10d), you'll see a Creeper destroy some of this.

The Plains Village, in its 1.12.2 AND 18w10d Location. Took this picture after EP #7. I had done nothing to change the Village.

The Desert Temple as it looks in 18w11a, AFTER the previous renovations, when I switched from 18w10d to 18w11a!!! Take note of the new biome configuration to the right, and the MISSING Plains Village to the rar right of the screenshot! If you look at the top of the screenshot, you can just barely see the NEW Desert Village that got subbed in 18w11a, instead of the Plains Village in 18w10d. WOW!!!

Temporary Fix for the Oak Doors, in the Soartex resource pack.

Also, I temporarily fixed the problems with the horse bodies, by just taking out the Soartex Horses folder inside the Entities folder. I un-archived a copy of the vanilla VERSIONS folder, and looked inside the Assets folder for all of the resources, and found that the textures for the horse have been changed to a square , rather than the elongated rectangle that they were, previously, which is why the body parts no longer fit where they should on the 3D mesh. I could fix that, but I didn't want to take the time to figure out where all the target parts were on the mesh, so...I just took out my "horses" folder, for now, and voila...no more missing body parts on my horses. ;-)
